And why would Apple change anything with the iPhone’s looks? There isn’t a single device out there to outdo the iPhone in wearability and portability, let alone features and applications. The iPhone is a communications device, a media player, a mini-netbook and a portable game console, all inside a sleek, luscious case that comes either in white, or in black. This thing is sure to turn some heads when you answer a call walking down the street.
While the device hasn’t changed in appearance, Apple still offers up a few close-ups of its tantalizing curves.

“iPhone 3G S is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet and we think people will love the incredible new features including autofocus camera, video recording and the freedom of voice control,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. Schiller was Apple’s choice for kicking off WWDC 09 yesterday with a keynote address where he was aided by fellow execs Scott Fostrall and Betrand Serlet. “And with a breakthrough price of $99, we are thrilled to get iPhone 3G into the hands of even more users who want them,” Schiller added, to the delight of the entire Apple fan base.
iPhone 3G S is set to ship with iPhone OS 3.0. Not surprisingly, Apple touts the new iPhone’s OS as “the world’s most advanced mobile operating system.” Among the 100+ new features that are coming with the software update later this month, Apple highlights those such as Cut, Copy and Paste, MMS (available later this year), Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard, a built-in digital compass for instant navigation, as well as built-in Nike + iPod support. The new iPhone 3G S also supports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA (faster networking). iPhone 3G S also includes VoiceOver, a feature specific to Mac OS X and, more recently, to the third generation iPod shuffle. VoiceOver delivers accessibility features for the visually impaired. The phone’s battery is also said to outperform its predecessor’s (the iPhone 3G).

As revealed in the pictures, iPhone 3G S comes in either a white or a black case. For $199, US customers can grab the 16GB model by signing a two year contract with AT&T. In 32GB form, the iPhone 3G S costs $100 more ($299).
Hands up who’s getting themselves an iPhone 3G S!
