Just as planned, Linus Torvalds has released the Linux 2.6.30 kernel. Linux 2.6.30 introduces the NILFS2 file-system, new and updated drivers, support for the Microblaze CPU architecture, and many other changes. The release announcement for the Linux 2.6.30 kernel can be read at LKML.org.
Next up we have the Linux 2.6.31 kernel, which will hopefully introduce proper in-kernel memory management support for ATI Radeon graphics cards via a mix of TTM and GEM code and we might also see kernel mode-setting for this hardware as well. This next kernel will also bring Intel kernel DRM updates, perhaps the Creative X-Fi ALSA driver, and many other changes.
