Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 £40 deal: one week left

Some of you have no doubt heard of this offer before, but many out there may not have--or they may have thought it was over. Well, it almost is.

UK students who want to get their hands on a legit, full copy of Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 for less than £40 have until midnight (GMT) on 30 June 2009 to take advantage of Microsoft's long-running "Ultimate Steal" promotion. Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 contains Access, Excel, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher and Word.

If you want to secure your copy, you should visit the "Ultimate Steal" promotion site.

The terms and conditions state that you will need to have access to "a valid e-mail address at a UK educational institution which contains the domain suffix 'ac.uk', 'ac.im', 'ac.gg', 'ac.je' or 'open.ac.uk'."

If you have got that, it is fairly straightforward to order:

"1. Click on 'Buy Now'.
2. Enter your university/college email address.
3. If eligible, you will receive an email to purchase.
4. Click on the link in the email to access the store.
5. Purchase your licence/product key.
6. Add back-up media to your order (optional).
7. Checkout and download Office Ultimate 2007!"

The software, according to the blurb, does not cease to be legitimate after you leave university (the ad says "Get it while you still have a .ac email address.").

There are other bargains to be had. Windows Vista Ultimate Red upgrade is available for about £40 (and Microsoft will give £10 to help fight AIDS in Africa for each copy bought). Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007 is also going cheap: £36.95. According to the terms and conditions, Microsoft Office Language Pack 2007 is on sale as well, for £9.95.

The prices are for the licence/product keys and a download version. If you want your software on DVD, you can pay £9 extra (the Language Pack is, however, only available as a download).
