How to Upgrade Windows 7 RC Beta to Windows 7 RTM Build 7600

Most of the users are still on Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 and Windows 7 RC Build 7100 since those were the two Windows 7 Builds which was distributed under Public Preview.

Windows 7 Beta users must upgrade to Windows 7 RC as after July 01, 2009 Windows 7 Beta has started Bi hourly shutdown and will expiry on August 1, 2009 whereas Windows 7 RC will expire on June 2010.

Windows 7 RTM build 7600.16385 is already singed off and handed to OEM partners as well as it has been leaked on popular torrent websites. If you are attempting to upgrade Windows 7 RC/Beta to Windows 7 RTM setup will give you an error message saying: You cannot upgrade this pre-release version of Windows 7. How to Upgrade Windows 7 RC/Beta to Windows 7 RTM
  1. Mount Windows 7 RTM Build 7600 ISO and Extract content to any folder or USB drive
  2. Now go to Sources folder of Windows 7 and open “cversion.ini” file in notepad
  3. Modify the “MinClient” build number to a value lower than your installed Windows 7 Build. For example, change 7233 to 7000 if you have Windows 7 Beta Build installed.
    • [HostBuild]
    • MinClient=7000.0
    • MinServer=7100.0
  4. Save the updated file to the same location and then run setup.exe to start Windows 7 RC upgrade process.
That's it, Now follow on screen instructions and choose Upgrade option at em0nx.
